Social welfare

Care of the elderly, the disabled and families in need in Knivsta, are organised in close cooperation with the recipients of care and their relatives. Care should improve the possibilities for people to live an independent and meaningful life.

Arrangements for disabled

The municipality’s arrangements for disabled people consist of various types of support according to the needs of the individual, for example help with personal hygiene, assistance in taking part in various leisure activities, residence in a family home or in an apartment home with special services. People of working age are given meaningful occupations such as hobby activities and the like.

Care of elderly

Care of the elderly in Knivsta comprises assistance and support at home and care in special needs housing.

A relative who takes care of a member of the family is also entitled to receive
support and assistance.

Individual and family care

Individual and family care should aim at releasing and developing people’s own resources and should have a preventive approach. In Knivsta, for example, activities are arranged for parents to children age 0-6 year at Fröhuset Family Centre. These include open family activities, conversational therapy and parent training.
